About

I believe that children with cancer do best when they and their parents are full partners on the treatment team. That means sitting down, taking time, listening to them and their struggles, showing them you care, responding to them with openness and honesty, and offering our expertise (and our team's expertise) to meet their needs.

She is specifically interested in designing novel immunotherapies that manipulate how these signals are received in the bone marrow to eliminate minimal residual disease and prevent relapse.
Lauren Bruckner, MD, PhD Pediatric oncologist
Dr. Bruckner is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Oncology, and the Clinical Director of the Pediatric General Inpatient Units at the Golisano Children's Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). She earned her medical degree and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at SUNY at Upstate Medical Center. Subsequently, she completed her residency in Pediatrics and fellowship training in hematology and oncology at URMC.
Suzie Noronha, MD Pediatric oncologist
I chose the field of pediatric hematology/oncology because I want to help ill children, as well as their families, through the difficult process of cancer and blood disorder diagnosis and treatment. I am fascinated by blood cells and how subcellular and vascular alterations can affect the entire body. It was natural for me to combine these interests to treat hematologic pediatric cancers and sickle cell disease. I am also proud to be a wife and mother of two busy and bright children.
Angela Girvin, MD Pediatric oncologist
I am most interested in the treatment and care of children with leukemia/lymphoma and rare tumors as well as children with blood diseases.
Barbara Asselin, MD Pediatric oncologist
Dr. Asselin provides care for pediatric patients with cancer and blood disorders and conducts research trials in pediatric malignancies. Since 2009, she has worked as an academic hospitalist in the division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine providing comprehensive inpatient medical care for children with acute and chronic illnesses.
Derek Wakeman, MD Pediatric surgeon
I love being a pediatric surgeon because I am able to help children through surgery. It is very gratifying to make a profound impact on someone's life, particularly when they are so young. There are different challenges in infants, particularly those with severe congenital diseases. I find this motivates me to do my very best. To this end, I treat all general and thoracic neonatal and pediatric surgical diseases.
Erin Rademacher, MD Pediatric nephrologist
Dr. Rademacher provides care to children with kidney diseases. She has a special interest in kidney problems related to prematurity.
