Established in 2018, Ronin Martial Arts Academy, located in Rochester, is renowned for its focus on competition and self-defense. Catering to children, teens, and adults, this esteemed institution offers a comprehensive range of classes, including Full Contact Karate, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Fitness/Strength Training, BANG Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Hayastan Grappling (encompassing Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Sambo, and Catch Wrestling). Aikido Kokikai of Rochester teaches the principles of Sensei Shuji Maruyama, founder of Aikido Kokikai®. Founded in 1984, our dojo is an all volunteer organization with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We have a beautiful, spacious dojo in the historic Post Office building on Cumberland Street. Our two chief instructors are 6th and 5th degree black belts, each with over 25 years of experience. Aikido Kokikai® is an effective martial art with roots in Samurai sword techniques. Its principles assume larger and stronger attackers and therefore is designed to be effective for people of all sizes. We'd love to have you try Aikido Kokikai® for yourself. Your first few lessons are free and you can start in any of our classes.

We are an Aikikai Hombu affiliated Aikido Dojo. Our instructor and student ranks are recognized world wide through the Shimbokukai Aikido Federation and Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Japan. We teach traditional Aikido as well as Toho Iai and Icho-Ryu Aiki-Jujitsu and women's self defense courses.
